Orlando on a budget: this week’s top money-saving tip!

Whether it is your first time to Orlando or your 21st visit, setting a budget and searching for top Orlando money-saving tips and brilliant deals should be at the top of the priority list. Even if you are planning the holiday of a lifetime, and so no expense will be spared, saving a bit of cash on the big theme parks, like Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World and SeaWorld, means you’ll have extra pocket money to spend on brilliant attractions and shows that you might not even know were there. I love a bargain and, trust me, there are plenty of bargain ticket deals to be had for Orlando, you just need to know where to look and when to buy.

As I explain in my guide to Buying Orlando Park Tickets, booking in advance is key. Being properly prepared, with your tickets in hand, saves you money and time when you get to Florida and choosing an authorised and respected seller means you can purchase with confidence and assurance that you are getting the real deal – legitimate park passes that are authentic and properly issued. I have been recommending Attraction Tickets Direct, a UK-based ABTA-approved agent, for a few years now and no one has ever said a bad word against them. This is handy as they currently have a brilliant offer online – WHICH IS LIMITED UNTIL 31ST JUNE ONLY – that you don’t want to miss if you are planning a trip to Orlando before February 2020.

The deal, which is available at Attraction Tickets Direct now, is billed as the ‘BEST EVER UNIVERSAL OFFER’ – and it is pretty sweet. If you buy your Universal Orlando tickets before the 30th June, you get 3 Parks for the Price of 2, PLUS FREE TICKETS WORTH £45pp for the brilliant Blue Man Group Orlando Show. This includes Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, where you can find the brand new Harry Potter rollercoaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and Universal’s tropical waterpark, Volcano Bay.

Links on this page do contain affiliate tracking, which means I may receive a small financial gain if you do go on to buy tickets, but be assured that this comes at no extra cost to you or influence any of the opinions on this site.

What is the Blue Man Group show like in Orlando?

Ironically, no one leaves feeling blue after this wild and wacky show (Photo: Attraction Tickets Direct)

I had no idea what to expect when I saw Blue Man Group for the first time and, honestly, I think that is the best way. This crazy and colourful production is a mix of rock concert, panto, dance, physical theatre, comedy, mime, lasers and mess… yes, mess. During the two-hour extravaganza, rainbow paint, cake mixture, flour, jelly and lots of other mad sticky stuff is thrown around the stage in a modern-day version of that scene from Bugsy Malone where they all start throwing food at each other. It’s thrilling for kids (and big kids, like me) and even if you have a grumpy granddad or a too-cool-for-school teen in tow, trust me, you are never too mature for a good old fashioned goo fight. This mad cap, and award-winning, performance gets everyone grinning from ear to ear. Don’t worry though, audience members aren’t targeted with the goop, so you won’t be treading blue footprints back to your hotel. However, for those who want to be in the danger zone (by danger, I mean jelly – or jello as the American’s call it), you can book to sit in the Blue Man Group Orlando ‘poncho seats’. As the name suggests, you get a free poncho with your seat *just in case* a stray splash comes your way. Parents, don’t fret – everything used in the show is 100% washable, so no Mickey T-shirts will be harmed in the making of your family fun night out.

The show is suitable for toddlers up to adult guests and there are even special autism-friendly performances at various times of the year if anyone in your party has sensitive needs. You can easily combine Blue Man Group with a visit to the theme parks and a night out on Universal Citywalk, and there is no doubt you will leave the show in the mood to party, so if you don’t have sleepy kids on your watch, head straight Pat O’Brian’s Irish bar or Rising Star to continue the night.

Where is the Blue Man Group theatre in Orlando?

The specially-designed theatre is slap bang in the middle of Universal Citywalk, between the two Universal theme parks (but closest to Universal Studios Orlando). If you haven’t heard too much about Citywalk, definitely plan to spend some time there, whether before or after the show, as there are SO many great places to eat, including (my favourites) The Cowfish, the Hotdog Hall of Fame and Voodoo Doughnuts. And if you are staying at a Universal Orlando Resort Hotel, you don’t even need a car to see the show. You can walk from your hotel or take the glam Universal Water Taxi.

Find out what the best Universal Orlando hotel is best for you with my guide to all the resorts here, including the brand new Surfside Inn and Suites.

Back to the business of your Orlando budget, this ticket and show deal is really good, and if you love Blue Man Group half as much as I did, you’ll have a blast. We even lined up to meet the cast after! It’s also worth noting that Walt Disney World just upped their prices in the lead up to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening so get in quick just in case Universal do the same! Or, if you are in need of a catchy catchphrase: DO, or be BLUE… (see what I did there?!)
