Where to find the best walls of Universal Orlando
By Helen Wright
Oh, we do love an Instagram trend and the #wallsofInstagram movement isn’t going anywhere. Who can resist pretty colours and rainbow tiles? It’s the easiest way to gloss up your grid and some destinations are a #walltraveled dream. If you are headed to Orlando soon, you might have heard about the massive #WallsofWaltDisneyWorld challenge and, of course, we have details on all the best walls over at Walt Disney World here so you can get your game plan together.
But what about Universal Orlando? With 576 acres of theme parks and resorts to explore, you know there’s more than a few Instagram backdrops just waiting for your smartphone. It was a hard job but we took on the challenge and went to Florida to track down the best walls of Universal and where to find them.

A DEFINITIVE LIST OF THE BEST WALLS OF UNIVERSAL ORLANDO AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
The Firecracker Wall
This is a fan favourite so where better to start than the colourful, cobbled backstreet that is Diagon Alley in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. These magical garage doors can be found in the Carkitt Market area, close to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes and the entertainment stage. Extra marks if you have your Hogwarts cloak and magic wand at the ready. By the way, if you want your Instagram pic on Diagon Alley with no people in – I explain how to do it here.

The Groove Wall
Brightly coloured, asymmetric walls are top Instagram fodder, so this bold zig zag backdrop at Universal CityWalk is a winner. You can find this wild wall outside The Groove nightclub and if you go before the bars and restaurants of CityWalk open you’ll likely have the whole stretch to yourself and can spend as long as you like posing to get the perfect shot!

Which park: CityWalk
The Cowfish Wall
Bright orange, super sunlight – oh how’ya doing holiday wall? This spot, also at Universal CityWalk, is another of the best walls at Universal to collect because it’s outside the park gates, meaning less crowds and you don’t actually need a ticket to get your shot! It’s on CityWalk next to the The CowFish, which incidentally is my favourite restaurant at Universal Orlando. It’s an odd concept of sushi + burgers (you can have either / or), or have the famous Burgushi – a mix of both! Somehow it works and the sushi here is some of the best, most fresh I have ever had! Top marks! Make time for dinner here and you can stop off to capture the delicious wall on your way.

The Swizzle Wall
This is the PERFECT place to pose for the ‘gram. Add a beach ball, bucket and spade and some fake sandcastles and you’ve got your very own classic Florida vaycay scene. For this wall you will have to pop over to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which is a fab, retro-themed hotel that is ideal for both families and influencers in search of bright colours and vintage backdrops. There are so many rainbow opportunities here you could find your very own wall and add it to our list! Just tweet us or tag us on Instagram and we’ll add add your pic to this post! This is so called the #swizzlewall because it is adjacent to the Swizzle bar in the hotel’s huge lobby area, which serves delicious cocktails in gorgeous glasses.

The Cabana Bay Gym Wall
While you’re at Cabana Bay, head upstairs to the spa and gym entrance. This cushioned wall is the perfect blue to show off your tan! Definitely a rival for Disney’s Toothpaste Wall we say!

The Toon Lagoon Wall
Well, what can we say about Universal’s Islands of Adventure? There are SO many good photo ops to choose from, especially in the Toon Lagoon area, but we love this lesser seen shot by @MalDisneydaze. Even the floor is colourful!

The ET Wall
Yes! E.T. Adventure is the oldest ride at Universal Studios and now the only remaining attraction from when the park opened in 1990. It’s only right and proper that it has it’s own famous wall and it’s one of the most fun walls of universal too! Plus, this is a great spot for the lads of Instagram because they can finally live out their childhood fantasies of being Elliot, a little boy who gets an alien as a best friend. In this case, the E.T wall is expertly demonstrated by @noeldembo

The Ride of Die wall
This cool graffiti wall displays the motto of the Fast and Furious gang and was painted by an artist who won a competition to provide art work for the park – how cool?! Get in there quick because we’re not sure if this specific wall will remain now that the ride is officially open? (Have you ridden Fast and Furious: Supercharged? It’s hilarious!)

The Voodoo Doughnut Wall
Finally, the latest place to get your sugar fix at Universal Orlando has opened on CityWalk and Voodoo Doughnuts is a must-visit. Seriously, those doughnuts are good! This guy is the main man – the Voodoo Doughnut mascot – and he is filled with the most delicious strawberry jam. To get this picture you might have to join the constant queue outside to buy one and then sit on the floor to capture the shot but it’s all about your commitment to the ‘gram. Plus, you get to eat him as a reward for your efforts. Bonus!
