TRAVEL MEDIA AWARDS 2015: FINALIST
By Helen Wright
This year has been a very exciting one for passportstamps.uk. The reason I set up the site was to share my love for travel and to make people as excited as I am about having adventures and seeing the world. I had no idea if anyone would be interested in what I had to say or whether the site would merely serve as a handy online archive for all my trips. That’s why I’m thrilled to see how much the site has developed over this year and honoured to welcome such a talented pool of contributors to the books. Four months after its launch, passportstamps.uk was named a top UK travel blog to watch in 2015 by Yahoo! And this month we’re unbelievably chuffed to be a finalist for Online Consumer Travel Publication of the Year at the Travel Media Awards 2015. The Travel Media Awards celebrate the best in travel media and will be judged by some of the UK’s most influential travel industry figures, alongside leading travel writers and editors. (eek!)

The award ceremony is on November 9th 2015. I’ll be as surprised as anyone if we win but it’s a fantastic feeling to be shortlisted against some pretty impressive sites; marieclaire.co.uk, Telegraph Travel, cruisecritic.co.uk and worldtravelguide.net. I’m very excited about the ceremony (any excuse to wear my posh heels) but mostly because I’ll get to rub shoulders with the best in the travel biz. Click here to find out what fantastic publications are shortlisted in the other 18 categories. You’ll see a host of fantastic writers there including Sarah from livesharetravel.com and Katherine Lawrey from TTG, both of whom I had the pleasure of meeting recently. Good luck guys!
If you’ve read down this far then you’re one of the people I most want to thank. I really appreciate your support, kind words and shares of my site. Our success rises and falls with you. Keep coming back – and if you let me know what you most want to see and I’ll try my best to make it happen!
I couldn’t finish my little ode to the Internet with giving props to the talented and supportive folk who helped me build my site and fill it with lovely content. My web designer, brand new dad, chief nagger and possibly the most patient man in the world, Leon Harris. Gorgeous illustrations by SootieLimeTree. My tireless proof reader Simon Henry, and the merry team of happy travel writers below. Check them out on Twitter!
